From Interstate 40, take Rio Grande Boulevard south about half a mile to Mountain Road, then east on Mountain Road less than a half a mile to the Museum, turning north on 18th street to the parking lot. The mission
of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science is to foster an understanding and appreciation of the diverse and evolving natural history of New Mexico and the Southwest. The Museum pursues scientific inquiry, develops focused collections, and presents innovative and engaging educational exhibits and public programs. In this way, the Museum promotes science literacy among the residents of and visitors to New Mexico by revealing the region’s natural history treasures.
The Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day with these important exceptions:
The Museum is CLOSED on Thanksgiving and Christmas and non-holiday Mondays in January and September.
