We Are A Green Hotel

Ways we reduce our use:
- Pourers for sugar and cream are used for our 24 hour coffee bar.
- We have replaced most of our grass with xeriscaping (drought resistant and low water-needs landscaping). In addition to the reduction in water use, lawnmowers are used less, so air pollution and noise are reduced.
- Carpet has been replaced by tile in all our common areas. So vaccuuming (electrical energy) has now been replaced with sweeping and mopping (free exercise!).
- All rooms have water conservation cards, offering our guests the option of re-using their towels instead of receiving fresh towels daily.
- The pool is opened seasonally, from April to October, both for the energy and water saving benefits.
- Flourescent and compact flourescent light bulbs are used throughout the hotel.
- Guests use real plates and silverware for our full hot breakfast buffet rather than disposable items.
- A minimum of "single serve" items, which are used to control portions, are available for breakfast. Cottage cheese, milk, yogurt, fruit, and more are all self serve - the guest controls the portions and the waste from single serve packaging is eliminated.
- Low flow (though still excellent pressure) shower heads and sink aerators installed.
- Drapes are closed when a room is cleaned.
- Only one entryway light (flourescent) is left on in each room (for guest safety when entering).
- Information on public transportation and dining within walking distance is available.
- Air filters in HVAC units are replaced regularly.
- We provide shuttling - it's carpooling, but you never have to drive!
Ways we recycle:
- Beginning February 2008: Recycle bins located throughout the hotel.
- We donate or resell fixtures when we remodel and update. Nothing ever goes to a landfill.
